Organizer/Union Representative Wanted – Drivers Union

Drivers Union was built by and for gig workers, primarily Uber and Lyft drivers, to fight for justice and fairness in the gig economy.  Drivers Union has won nation-leading earnings protections, due process rights, a wide range of benefits, and a voice for drivers in their work lives. Drivers have fought long and hard to establish these rights, and we are looking for staff who will help us continue to advance social and economic justice for workers and their communities.  

People who drive for Uber, Lyft, and other gig companies come from all over the world, and Drivers Union supports drivers in dozens of languages.

Drivers Union staff perform a wide range of duties. This role will require:

• Ability to reach workers through various outreach methods including visiting work locations and homes, social media, and other forms of communication
• Identifying and developing worker leaders, building strong relationships, and developing and leading one-on-one and group trainings
• Developing and executing campaign strategies for education and outreach as well as for systemic improvements and policy changes
• Ability to understand and help others understand local, state, and federal laws and rights that impact drivers
• Working well within a team, and willingness to work long and irregular hours
• Maintaining records and databases, and proficiency in workplace applications especially Zoom, Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and car
• Other duties, responsibilities, and activities that may change at any time

Drivers Union offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits including full family medical, dental and vision, auto allowance, paid time off, retirement, etc.

Salary range is $78,000-$88,000. 

Particular consideration will be given to candidates with fluency in languages other than English common in the driver community; for-hire driving experience, and community leadership in the region’s diverse immigrant and refugee communities.
