Drivers Union is now hiring a Campaign Organizer to help us build driver power in Southwest Washington and Oregon.

Drivers Union was built by and for gig workers, primarily Uber and Lyft drivers, to fight for justice and fairness in the gig economy.  Drivers Union has won nation-leading earnings protections, due process rights, a wide range of benefits, and a voice for drivers in their work lives. Drivers have fought long and hard to establish these rights, and we are looking for staff who will help us continue to advance social and economic justice for workers and their communities.

Drivers Union staff perform a wide range of duties. This particular role, based in Oregon or Southwest Washington, will require:

  • Building relationships with local allies and potential coalition partners in support of workers’ rights
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities to advance public policies that improve drivers’ lives
  • Developing and executing campaign strategies for education and outreach, systemic improvements, and policy changes
  • Elevating worker leaders and supporting leaders through education, outreach, training, and leadership opportunities
  • Working well within a team, and willingness to work irregular hours when needed
  • Independent, remote work with regular check-ins, good communication, and occasional travel
  • Proficiency and/or ability to learn database and workplace applications
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and car
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities that may change at any time

Drivers Union offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits including full family medical, dental and vision, auto allowance, paid time off, and matching retirement contributions.

Workers for Uber, Lyft, and other gig companies come from all over the world, and Drivers Union supports drivers in dozens of languages. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with: fluency in languages other than English; campaign, coalition-building, community leadership, and/or policy expertise; and for-hire driving experience.
