Takele Gobena is the Interim President of Drivers Union, where he continues a decade-long commitment to advocating for driver rights and worker organizing. His journey in the rideshare industry began in 2014 when he worked as an Uber and Lyft driver to support his family. During that time, he served on the driver organizing committee that successfully secured the nation's first driver rights legislation in the City of Seattle, prevailing after years of opposition from Uber and the US Chamber of Commerce.
Over the past twelve years, Gobena has expanded his community leadership through multiple roles, including union representative, elected SeaTac City Councilmember, and board member for several non-profit organizations. He previously served as Vice-President of Drivers Union.
