I'm not just the Drivers Union President, I'm also a former taxi and UBER driver.
Like many UBER and LYFT drivers, I came to this country as an immigrant. At home, I speak Nuer and Arabic. English is my third language. That's why I'm asking for your help to make sure Uber communicates with drivers in the language they're most comfortable with.
I am not alone. In the last year, Drivers Union has supported thousands of drivers speaking over 35 different languages!
That’s why we fought for rules to require UBER & LYFT to provide you with important information about your rights under the law in your preferred language.
Because of our advocacy, UBER is currently surveying drivers in-app about your language preferences. We encourage you to respond to UBER’s survey with your native language you speak at home.
Most drivers can use the driver app in English just fine. But for important information about your legal rights – including if your account is ever deactivated – you deserve to receive clear information about your rights in your preferred language.
Please respond to Uber’s survey in your app, and if you believe in our mission to fight for driver rights – become a Drivers Union member today to continue building driver power. Drivers Union is also fighting to expand Paid Family Medical Leave for drivers: click here to fill our paid leave survey.
