Last Thursday, our driver community and allies came out in force to celebrate the many victories we've won in 2024:
- The nation's first inclusion of rideshare drivers in a statewide Paid Family and Medical Leave program
- America’s first cap on excessive commissions for taxi drivers
- The extension of the Workers’ Compensation Death Benefit to ensure that drivers families are eligible for support should tragedy strike
On top of this year's wins, we also came together to celebrate the tangible impact of our past wins on members of our community. Through support to drivers and our legislative wins, we've seen:
- More than 1,300 unfairly deactivate drivers back on the road, with more $3.5 million paid to those drivers
- More than $3.9 million paid to drivers in labor standards enforcement
- More than $400 million paid to drivers in sick leave and public benefits
But Voices for Fairness 2024 was more than just a celebration of victories we've achieved, it was also an enthusiastic look to the future. We were joined by drivers who share our fight from places like Colorado, Toronto, and Oregon.
We were also privileged to be joined by a cavalcade of public officials who stand with drivers in their fight for fairness, including Attorney General Bob Ferguson, US Rep. Adam Smith, Senator Rebecca Saldaña, Representative Liz Berry, King County Executive Dow Constantine, King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda, and ESD Commissioner Cami Feek.
But as always, the stars of the show were our stunning dance and music by performers from Ethiopia, Gambia, and Rwanda and our global buffet featuring the cuisines of many of the regions from which the driver community hails.
We can't wait to see you at next year's Voices for Fairness celebration, where we'll be celebrating another year of the kind of wins that are possible when drivers come together to form the kind of worker power that our elected leaders can't ignore.
